Hey hey,

How do you measure carby size? We have one here that we pulled off Grace (my 68 Deluxe), the needle and seat are sticking but we've cleaned it up a bit.

Suspect the nylon ring in the seat is perished, so it will need to be replaced.

How do I work out what size the carburettor is in order to buy the right parts? Is it the internal diameter where the butterfly is located?

Yes , also , as an easy way of looking at it -

1 1/4 has 2 vertically opposed stud holes on the manifold side

1 1/2 has 2 diagonally opposed stud holes on the manifold side

1 3/4 has 4 square patterned stud holes on the manifold side

Cheers Sports - looks like 1 1/4.

Are we on the right track re the needle / seat and replacing...?

Considerring the length of time it sat I'd say it'd be worth replacing anyway , you'll probably find a few more things like that too as you go . Just keep plodding along and sorting it out as it comes .
