Hi All,
just thought i'd let you know Deb from mylittle car... the company that makes mini backpacks and cushions based on your mini.. are now facing legal action from bmw over trademarks to mini toys!? it's a small family run business out of the uk making little to no profit doing charity work for breast cancer (she made pink minis to sell for breast cancer week) and raising money for mini clubs globally...
if anyone wants to get behind this could you sign this petition and if anyone has any pull in any of the clubs could we get someone to write a club letter or something to help this lady!
http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/40207/index.html
thanks,
- tom

Just because you are supporting a charity, It does not mean you can
be ignorant to the law.

Although its a good cause, BMW bought the name to Mini and all of its products fair
and square.

Its a very sad story to hear, but just because I am upset, does not mean that
they did the lawful thing.

Well it's funny how after BMW waved the big stick a few years ago, spares places like MINIsport, MINIspeed, MINIspares etc are still in business, despite BMW's warmongering.
BMW's attitude sux. No wonder some people in UK hate their guts...

This is a similar story to the complete bs fight over the Ugg boot name. Some stupid US company bought the rights to the name, and tried to put the origins of the Ugg boot, Australia, out of business.

It is pretty harsh to be putting a charity-supporting 'business' out of work, because of a name. BMW sees it as another speed bump in the road to deal with, where as Deb sees it as a brickwall with a fat BMW representative hanging onto her door.

No amount of signatures will give 'Mylittlecar' the rights to make backpacks again.

Sadly, another small company has lost out to a bigger one.

It is the way of business these days, however.

Compare it to <mod edit> Behave willy

They own IP so they can whatever they like with it.

Maybe you can sue somebody for owning the BINI killing clubman after all you invented it.
