hello all i have juz recently join this forum and for the first time juz bought a 1969 morris 1100 sport which im really excited about untill i picked it up the other day and come to my saded attention that the front wheels are rubbing on the flares . at the moment i have 16570r10 on the car and was wondering if i can get a smaller profile then 70. also upseting to my attention is that the passenger door gets jammed and ive figured it may be cause the interior door handle may need adjusting

if u have any knowledge please do help im juz starting to learn about my mini

Is it hydro? Wats the ride height like? Maybe its sagged? Or the ride height is way to low...

its hydro but its been fitted with adjustable shocks and sport springs i was thinking its too low as well but when u look at its hieght its close to standard

Hydros had helper springs on the rear but had no shocks front or rear i thought. Hydro is hydrolastic suspension (floats on fluid)

Is it scrapping the front edge of the wheel arch or the top edge?

front edge of the arch and it does it on full lock i was juz gonna cut that section of the flare out where its rubbing but id rather not. yeah i know but i think the springs and shock were installed cause the hydro crap itself

Does it have adjustable tie-bar arms? To adjust the castor?

It might help if you put some pics of the arch etc and also the suspension mods up . Firstly , hydro suspension either works or it doesn't basically , the fluid is held in under pressure and moves backwards and forwards between the front and rear suspensions on each side . Standard it had "helper springs" on the rear in the position the shock absorbers would be on a rubber suspended mini , and no shock absorbers or springs on the front . A popular tuning modification is to add shock absorbers to the front , is this what your's has had done ? You say the work was done because the hydro shat itself , is the hydro suspension working and how much space is there between the top of the front guard and the wheel ? It may be that the suspension has sagged over time to the point where it is now too low which is causing the wheels to rub , or the suspension geometry could be out but look at the cars height first .

is there a smaller profile tyre i can get cause the tyre looks bigger then one they are meant to be. it needs 4 tyres anyway but i can check the clearance and everything when i get it back, its gone for a respray

16570R10's are basically it , they were either 145 or 165 width and that's what all mini's had so it's not the tyres , look at car height or suspension geometry , the caster (caster is the center of the wheel forward or backwards in relation to the car ???) could be out and the wheel too far forward in the guard , but I'd be more inclined to look at the bodies height above the wheel first .

pretty sure that alll 165/R10's have a 70 profile. Every other mini has no dramas on 70 profile tyres with 10's. U must have a problem that needs to be rectified.

ok sweet ill have to check it out i got a wheel alignement machine at work so i hope i can work it out if worse comes to worse ill juz take it to mini moke world in sydney

Yeah well a profesional mini shop will b able to spot a problem straight away (if there is one) So thats definatly a good option if need be. When u get the car back from respray, take some pics of the issue. Some 1 on here should be able to help out...

Looking at ur pics, im assuming u have drum brakes on the front. U also have Cooper S spacered drums on the front? Plus ur rims have a wide offset on them, so u now have a really wide track, thats why ur scrapping the front edge of ur wheel arch on full lock. Try getting some non spacered brake drums. That will reduce the front track, but should stop the tyre from scrapping....
