Well thats really up to personal taste.. What colour is your mini? I'm guessing it's that white clubby in your pic? Green is a popular colour.. I'd stay away from black, might look good but you'll have trouble finding any oil leaks.. Be different paint it fluro yellow. |

I painted my engine silver. It's claimed lighter (I could be wrong) colours will give the car more power through radiating away more heat. Sort of like a white car vs a black on on a hot day. The white car will be cooler. ![]() I like the silver. Not as much of a hit in the face like my yellow engine was. ![]() |

A black motor would be most thermally efficient ![]() But then... Black isn't everyone's cup of tea (no pun intended) and if you're not chasing efficiency to the nth degree and your cooling system is up to the job just pick a colour that takes your fancy... Have fun with your decision ![]() |

You can choose any colour you like but as Hanra says, it depends a lot on the rest of the colour scheme ie: engine bay, or you can stick with the original clour as I have. ![]() |

i like black cos it hides the oil too.. its a piece of machinery not a work of art (some might think so) ![]() leave the gearbox unpainted, its alloy. |

match it to something on your car. eg mine will be charcoal, as that is the colour of my wheels. it will sort of fit in if not what colour is your interior? u have to make it match somehow |

its a piece of machinery not a work of art (some might think so) ![]() leave the gearbox unpainted, its alloy. But if you SEE the oil, you can fix the reason why the oil is there. Then you end up with a pretty engine bay like the one above. Mine is similar to his - red with silver gearbox. I went through a faze of painting all the past engines I built chevy blue - it's a pale -mid blue which looks nice and still allows indiscretions to be seen. It doesn't suit all engine bay colours though. That silver engine and blue rocker cover photo looks hot though. I personally think the engine and gearbox should be a different colour to break it up a bit. KB |
