Try and have a look at Morris 1100 boot hinges, they are internal. But they would take up too much space in the boot if fitted to a Mini. Anything is possible if you put effort into it. Yes minis look neater if they had no Hinges there. |

like was said above, would look nice and smooth, they would have to work like a commodore type boot hinge with the big j type thingn |

But you can't make the 'J' too big or you might hit the tank. I've seen it done in magazines, so can't specifically describe how it's done any more than what's been said. It is very neat looking when done, with the added security a bonus. ![]() |

Have a look in the Jan '07 issue of MiniWorld mag. The silver custom Mini has internal boot hinges.... + a few other custom bits as well. Doesn't leave a very big boot opening though. |

You can modify bonnet hinge arms to do this. Its very hard to get the mounting points correct without being locked in the boot to set it up with the lid closed. |

Yup I reckon bonnet hinges would be the go myseld or something very similar... Ide probably get some bonnet hinges made up but with a bigger J... It wouldnt be to hard for someone who has alot of experience with car bodys but for someone else yup I think you would have major dramas... Just think how would you attatch they boot to the hing and the hinge to the boot floor or beaver panel? Theres a fair bit to it but definatly do-able. Mike |

I've done something similar... but instead of hinging the boot I made it removable... basically just put a couple of pins on the inside of the boot lid and a couple of bits of channel for them to sit in... then a key type cam lock at the top... I know it's not the same thing... but you acheive a similar result from the out side ![]() ![]() |

I did it on my custom coupe. But I used some multipivot hinges from I think a pontiac with some built in has shocks. And I have a shaved latch and ann electric latch that will be operated by keyless entry to open the boot with a touch of a button. However it was awkward to set up, I did lay in the boot and tacked the set up with my MIG welder. but the opening to the boot is very small now, also in part to my recessed Corvette lights in the boot lid. But I wasn't going for functionality, I was going for style. Sorry, I don't have any pics of the internal set up and my digital cam is not working currently. |

I like the idea, cleans up the back, makes it easier to polish the area and keep it tidy, and doesn't really change the outline of the car or confuse it with another model. Good luck with it. |

i have got the latest miniworld and it looks like the silver mini is using escort bonnet hinges it does look good but it doesn't let the boot open far enough for my liking i think the bonnet hinge from a mini sounds like a good idea ill have a look at it ill find a way. |

That would only work if you knock the pin out of the factory hinges. ![]() |
