Are these worth bidding on to put on my moke, or will I have trouble getting them to fit?

It says in the text that they are probably not usable on a road car. If he is willing to admit that in the advert then buyer beware.

Not usable on the road as they aren't original parts. None of the Honda conversions are legal. Unless they have been DOT/RTA approved.

Look OK to me. You would give $50 to a bum who told you a good story. $50 for discs is hard to pass up. You couldn't get the adapter plate made for that price.

they're $50 now. With everybody talking about them the price will go up much higher.

Has anyone looked at what might happen if you are in an accident and somebody's hurt (whether your fault or not) and the cops have a look at the brakes? Insurance is void, civil liability, criminal stuff?

I don't like the look of those. Fitting foreign brakes is a matter of perception- there are good and bad ways of doing these things. These look like the latter. Unlike a properly fitted set of 9" Honda Civics..
If you are talking legality.. are 4 pot Metro brakes legal without Engineer approval? Never were sold on a Mini here- ditto 4 pot MiniSpares, or MiniSport ones, etc.

BTW.. people in Qld and Tas HAVE had Honda discs on Minis passed by the authorities, `spacers' and all. There will be a set or 2 presented in NSW very soon.... :wink:

What's wrong with them? The engineering is basically the same as the Honda conversion. Maybe the calleper bracket is thinner than 8mm?

I've seen a couple of sets like this over the years. Seem to be common on Mokes. Unlike the honda conversion you need the disk brake CV's as well. The Morris 1100 brakes are 8" from memory, but a thinner disk - 7.7mm new.

The Morris 1100 disk will also bolt straight onto a Mini 8.4" drive flange - makes this conversion look very factory when you get rid of the redrilled Morris 1100 drive flange.

My main concern was the redrilled drive flange.. looks a bit dodgy. But you are right- with 8.4 flanges should be OK.
I think caliper bracket looks OK in 2nd pic..

Probably also worth mentioning for the benefit of others that Morris 1100 hubs won't fit a Mini. Pity really- they are just too big..

I agree, but full credit to the guy for trying.

I wouldn't buy it, even though it is cheap. Brakes are just too important.

Thanks everyone, I guess I will stay away from these ones. My moke brakes are fine, but I thought if they were worth it I would give them a go.

Hmmm, seller has a 45 Dellorto listed with a link to Ausmini. Possibly a member then?
