Ladies and Gentlemen,

I would like to get some numbers for people that would like to race in the mini 1000 (and now 1100) at Wakefield.
You no longer need a CAMS license... a wakefield license is all that you need and will set you back about $80/year.

You will need to follow rules for your car.

Graham Russell is heading this up... and asked me to find out how many of you are would be in. Right now, I need numbers.

I am including pics to the original rules below... (note: some may change a little - for the better  )

So, who is in?
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.

--->EDIT<---
OK LISTEN UP, forget the rules for a minute.
The whole point of this (was and is) to allow people into a race with their mini (yes with some rules and requirements) but NOT something that will cost you too much. There are other classes for that... if you got that much $$ you can go to the other class.
This is about an affordable race for 998/1100's and a whole heap of fun while its going.

If you have a 998 or 1100 and want to race, we want you in. Points or Electric, Flat Top pistons or Dished, 10" radials (no slicks) thats fine, lumpy cam, ported head, no worries!!!!

We want to get this going and will sort out as we go.

By the way we do not hire the whole track ($3600/day) we will share it with the Superminis :) so its MUCH cheaper.

If you are in, PM me.

Cheers,
Peter.

I agree with most of these rules, in the interest of getting a `cheap' racing formula they look great.
However in this modern age of electronics and poor quality (or unavailable) Lucas aftermarket spares I believe a blanket ban on all electronic ignition is a bit tough, considering what many of us run now in street Minis.
Why not allow a Pertronix ignitor (drop in replacement for Lucas points) or (shock, horror) a Pulsar-Honda-Subaru distributor?

I'd be interested but I want to know, why did it fail the first time, aside from the demise of the super mini's?

cheers

Graham and I spoke about rules.
Let me know what you think and ill go back to him and see what we can do... I have a pulsar dizzy so I am all for that :D

Just like HIF series SU's ... only reason they are not in the rules is because they didnt exist when they were written :)

Peter.

Mainly because CAMS came in and it cost $3000-$4000 to get started with all the CAMS license and crap.
Thats no longer the case.

So it mainly fell apart due to $

Peter.

might be a problem getting enough good dual circuit brake master cylinders too, unless they mean aftermarket ones=$$$$$$

biggest issue is who is going to police the engines - is there going to be a sealing system like teh HQ guys use? Who is going to be the registered sealing mechanic?

unfortunately i won't be around, and i already have a half completed big bore....

cheers
michael

There are CHEAP aftermarket ones. Ummm, Mazda? l'll find out for you, ok.
What to police? Camshafts - Open, Head - Open, Crank - lightened balanced, etc fine.
(im not being a d*ck, I am actually asking what was policed)

Peter.

I like the idea, not saying definate as I'm still working on getting my own engine running better atm but I think the rules look ok but i would like the following:-
  1. Wheels - Commercially available cast alloy or std type steel , not split type
  2. Tyres, some sort of commercial arrangment sought with a cheap semi slick (Formula R ok but maybe yoko/toyo/other may wish to be contracted)
  3. Fuel - unleaded only 98 ron (pump)
  4. Adjustable Electronic ignition allowed but must retain a distributor and single coil
  5. Body mods to allow wheel clearance at front of wheel arch

I think it would be a good idea for modifications to follow the CAMS manual (check current) with regard to safety items so competitors can run their cars at supersprints etc. If we used yoko A032R for example, I think the cars could be run as improved production etc, just a thought.
Daniel
