Hydrolastic suspension uses special hydrolastic fluid , a mix of alcohol , water and some other things in minute amounts . It's put in under high pressure through the two schraeder valves under the rear valance (below the rear bumper) through a special pump . If it's your first time with this type of suspension then you're best to get it done by someone who already has a pump and knows what they are doing . DO NOT PUT AIR INTO IT , it won't work .

Didn't you say in an earlier post though that the hydro had been removed from your mini ?

yeah i thought it had been till the other day i pulled off the back tyre to adjust the handbrake and notices the bubble/trumpet looking thing behind the drum and the guy at work told me that it was the hydro suspension and to check to see if it still works, looks like the pervious owners put sports suspension in it and by passed the hydro if that makes sense

What you're saying just isn't possible , Hydro suspension is either there and working or it's been completely removed and is now fitted with dry or rubber cone suspension . Was there a rubber "ball shaped" thing at the end of an aluminium cone/trumpet ? If so it's been converted to rubber cone suspension . Do a search on hear of hydro suspension and you should see some pics of what the hydro setup looks like .

Either do the search and see what both systems look like or take a photo and we can tell you which it is , stabbing in the dark and following advice from someone who from the sounds of things mightn't know mini's all that well is fraught with danger/problems .
