Post subject: | RE13 Advance curve |
Hi all, I have not called GR yet just thought i might ask it here too and then if no one knows i will put it up when i get the info off GR. Does anyone know the ignition advance curve to run with the RE13? the reason i ask is i have just about finished the Megajolt programable via laptop ignition install and i have a few basic maps i can use but i just wondered if anyone had had their dizzy regraphed to suit the RE13 cam? Chong? Kev? anyone? thanks all. Grant |

I just used the standard Pulsar D4R85 springs, but shortened the centrifugal advance from 15* to 10* (dizzy degrees) by shortening both slots. The same with both cars. ![]() |

Time for the dyno, a RR would suffice to do the graph, shouldn't take more than an hour if the mixture setting is correct. Any maps for an NA don't apply to a turbocharged engine, esp under high boost. You must dial back the timing the higher you go with boost to stop detonation. IOW, if you find 10psi needs 30deg then 15psi will be less because there is more air/fuel in the cylinder at the same rpm. I know some people disagree with this theory but it's more a warning and you can always push it higher once you have measurement equipment on the engine. Even the drag racers have dial back ignition to get better top end out of their race engines, this is due to mild detonation from ram air toward the end of the run. Unless you can find an engine with the same compression ratio, cam and boost you'll have to buy shares in a piston manufacturer to do it any other way. Regards Daniel |
