Hi Starting to restore the body on my 1965 Moke There is rust in the sills where they join the outside of the side pontoons. I see that the sill is a separate piece. How is this suppose to be attached to the side pontoon? Mine is riveted on looking at the sill, most of the flange that attaches to the pontoon has rusted away Any one got photos showing what it should look like. Also the front subframe mounts that bolt into the footwell seam to be non standard in that instead of bolting directly to floor as in a mini, they bolt to a box section that is welded to floor? thanks all |

hi thanks very much for the assembly drawing. panel 44, 29 is what my question relates to. How is this attached together & into the sill? Also i see the cross member #13 that the subframe attaches to. This is also rusted out Do i just replace it with a piece of RHS? Stewart |

On mine those pieces were spot welded. As for panel 13, I fabricated mine from sheet steel. Have a look at my pics if it helps http://www.ausmini.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=17160 |

Sounds like your sills will need the full monty. Not technically difficult to fix (probably easier than the mini) but a fair amount of work. Remove rotten inside panel and replace with angled panel (135* I think) and seam weld to floor panels and inside panniers/pontoons. You will probably have to replace flat section underneath as well. Also check section/corner hidden by the fuel tank removable panel. The box sections for front subframe mounting are "factory" and used to bolt the subby to the body via the recessed holes in the front of the floors. Another great rust trap. Replacements are probably NLA so you may have to replicate using heavy guage steel, if yours are beyond repair. Look on the bright side - your welding skills will improve immensley after fixing all this, as did mine
