Any ideas. I have the Cooper S in my garage that was originally raced at Bathurst in 1970 by Peter Williams, it was then campaigned by Caroline O'Shanesey in 73 and 75 ATCC as well as Bathurst for both these years. I restored the car about 8 years ago but want to put it back to the exact way it was when Peter raced it in 1970. Many of you may remember Peter went on to campaign many cars at Bathurst and was the first driver to put incar cameras into his Toyota Celica, and later in Commodores. Does anyone out there know where I may find Peter or where to start looking.

Caroline O'Shannasey i still around and under her maiden name in Sydney. I saw a photo of here just recently getting a prize for some motorsport thing.

Peter Williamson is now retired but he was the head honcho at Williamson Toyota in Liverpool NSW for many many years. I am sure if you whitepage the current Toyota dealer in Liverpool and explain your case they will give you what information they have on the whereabouts of Peter.

As an aside - your car ran my brakes in the 73 Bathurst. They had a disc and caliper failure during practice and appealed for anyone in the pits who had a Cooper S and was willing to lend them some bits.

They raced with my brakes and bought and fitted an entirely new set to my car on Monday after the race. Maybe still my brakes on the car now.

Mike,
What a cool bit of info. I bought the car directly off Caroline in about 1997. After Bathurst in 75 she took the car off the track and stored it under her property in Gympie North of Brisbane. The car is as it raced in 75, with the original race engine, the whole box and dice, so probably your discs as well. Caroline gave me a bunch of spares when I bought it as well as a stack of programs from just about every race she entered. Throughout the programs she used to record lap times for herself and other drivers, as well as notes to herself. I restored the car in 99 but it hasnt turned a wheel in 5 years. Just too busy at work. The car was in its original camino gold when I got it, but I stupidly painted it red. So now I am about to undertake a second resto on an already concourse car, to get it back to the way it was, stickers and all.

Peter Williamson Toyota has been gone for many moons from Liverpool, used to be where Nissan now is. The only Toyota dealership in Liverpool is Peter Warren of the "Ford" side of things.

Just to trick you, there were two different Peter Williamsons racing at the same time. Peter (Nota) Williamson and Peter (Buckle, Mini, Toyota) Williamson.
I don't know where your Peter Williamson is these days. :?

just for your info. My mate who will remain nameless who actually was a touring car driver told me the story about that Axe to Boot story. It seems a member of the pit crew had the key but Peter pushed him out of the way and told him to get lost as this made good TV

You might have better luck if you search on Caroline O'Shaughnessy

A friend of mine knows how to contact Williamson of axe fame :D

Thanks guys all good leads. I have no trouble finding Caroline, she still lives in Gympie. I have PM'd 9ytah. I have stacks of photos of the car racing so restoring it with stickers etc will be easy. i would like to chat to Peter and ask him to sign the sunvisor and to get more info on what the interior had in it when he raced it. I have a pic of it coming out of the enfield factory with cage etc installed, and the car has no body deadener on it and a few other mods done to the subframes etc. Caroline kept it exactly as it was in 1975 even down to the GTX headlight covers with flower edging hippy style, so was prety easy to put back the way it was.

Enfield? The factory was at Zetland unless they did special work on them at Enfield :? (Enfield at that stage was the home of Pressed Metal Corporation a division of Leyland)

Interesting, they did some strange things at Enfield. My dad saw a heap of Force 7s at Enfield before they went to the crusher. Maybe it was the prototype shop?
