Yes it is a Hire Moke and his "girlfriend" was driving the Moke

The road toll up there is shocking. If most of southern Australia deals with 10 to 15 deaths per 100,000. The north of Australia deals with 45 deaths per 100,000. Most of it is drunk locals and shocking car deathtraps. |

A lot of it is speeding as well. It is generally a long way between towns and the roads are fairly straight, so people speed a lot. There are Kangaroos, cows and horses around too for people to hit. There are also lots of gravel roads, and some of them are pretty rough. |

most of the smashes round our way in central qld is caused by tired drivers too many work hours and the towns are to far away from work.like i gotta drive 65km ONE WAY to work then back home.but u gotta do what u gotta do i spose. |

I am in a rural area as well and its 30 km to town - 60 km round trip. However, when I was living in Sydney (western suburbs) and working in North Sydney is was a two hour trip each way basically. A lot more concentration was needed for Sydney although the city rarely had roos jumping out six feet in front your car while you are doing 100km. |

Roo's are shocking I remember in the Blue mountain's we hit one completely ruined the front end of the magna. Roo's just got up anbd hopped away. but yes a cyclist would be the only mode of transport to come off worse in accident with a moke. |

It's no wonder there s a death tool of that number if Roo's are about the bl**dy thing stood up stared at us and hopped away. Like it was a daily occurrence. Combine that with drunken and disorderly people in death traps as mentioned above it's no wonder there's so many deaths. Aftger saying that I'd love to be able to live outa of sydney |

Hmm Some of the people here dont have the kangaroo just hoping away. A seven foot 100 plus kilo hit at 100 kmh tends to stop the car and the roo. We have had a couple of fatalities directly attributed to roo strikes. A few that have swerved to miss the roo and hit a tree. One particularly heart wrenching one where a car swerved to miss a roo and hit a family saloon head on killing the mother and father in the front seat, a child in the rear and injured two other kids in the back. Another fatality happened when an oncoming car hit a smaller roo and sent it flying into the windscreen of another car travelling in the opposite direction. It caused extensive head injuries to that woman who died in hospital. Hitting a roo is a serious business that stops cars dead. |
