Are there any problems with buying a Leyland mini with a mini moke engine in it
and what are the differences.

No problems with the motor, but mokes have a shorter diff ratio to suit the 13" rims. If running 10s, the car will take off like a rocket but have a reduced top speed.

What size is the motor ??????
This bit is important as the engine size determines the type of brakes. If you dont know then tell us the engine number and we will tell you whats necessary.


As said earlier the engines exchange through the entire min/moke range with some minor changes such as diff ratios etc.

Its got a 1275/ 1310 cc reconditioned mini moke engine with genuine cooper s disc brakes.

Okay thats the good gear that you need. If it has the moke diff ratio (and I dont know what that is off hand) its going to fly and have heaps of torque.

You might want to check and see if it has a tendancy to lock up rear brakes under hard braking effort and if it does you may need to fit the Cooper S type smaller diameter wheel cylinders on the rear brakes. That may have already been done though. The non disk braked minis had a larger wheel cylinder and this locks up the rear brakes too easily when discs are fitted.

The engine number should be 12XXXXX to be a 1275 engine.
