original 850's will be rarer IMO. and nobody seems to dress their deluxes or mini k's like an 850. where as i've seen quite a few replica 1275ls's 850's are older and most people used them to build cooper replicas so there arnt many around nower days that are stock. my sisters 850 has matching numbers and is still using single leading shoe drums |

1275 LS's. The reason is simple, rust. These cars were made in the last years of production and were never properly treated like the early cars were. I don't know if they got lazy or made the panels from rusty steel but they have more problems than others IMO. Ask anyone you know with a clubman from 77/78 how much rust they have and I bet its more than age should suggest when compared to the early cars. I've had a 78 Van and 71 Van, the rust in the 78 was worse and it had it in odd places such as the panel under the roof drip rail, the 71 just had it around the rear end (as they all do). Daniel |

thats a really hard question mate, i think 850s may be more common than u think, they are just disguised as other things at the moment, 1275LS on the other hand as daniel said have mostly rusted away, have given their life to cooper s replicas or people that wanna put a 1275 and discs on their roundy. however appreciation for the desirability for the 1275 LS is right up there at the momnet so a lot are being saved and kept origianl, i dont think people are doing that quite yet to 850s despite the fact we all know they are getting rarer and rarer |

![]() Nar us Aussies don't! We're talking about Aussie 850's, which are pre 65ish. After that we never got 850's. |

All Australian minis are getting rare. Most of them have had some kind of change made to them, so finding one with the original matching numbers is the hardest part of all. I'm guilty of hacking up 2 original 850's simply because they were considered to be slow and boring 850's. But now, seeing how awesome a restored original 850 can be to me and other mini enthusiasts, I wish I had kept one of them untouched. You cant fake a magic wand gearbox.... |

Daniel far as I'm aware and have searced the car throught except on the other side of the fuel tank only because I haven't removed it, there's only two tiny little holes in mine and a little spot rust that can easily be fixed. ![]() ![]() ![]() however proper 850's are bound to be rarer if its all original. |

![]() Have you ever removed your door hinges from the body? This was the rust under both sides,it was bare metal underneath from factory. Also open up your side "flipper" windows and pull the rubber up and check the lower section on the body. far as I'm aware and have searced the car throught except on the other side of the fuel tank only because I haven't removed it, there's only two tiny little holes in mine and a little spot rust that can easily be fixed. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
