Post subject:  New brake line shopping list

I want to make a full set of brake lines for the mini.
I already have new hoses, cylinders, copper washers and a flaring tool,
as well as a small tube bender.

What size tube do I need and can anyone tell me the fitting size?
Anything else special I need to do the job?

Also, what's the best tube material? I'm thinking zinc plated steel lines.
Is there a better choice (like say stainless)?

Thanks.

:D

Stainless tube can harden & fracture. That would be bad.

Cunnifer (a copper/nickel/iron alloy) is the best stuff & is used by Volvo.
Not sure if it's available in Oz though.

The zinc plated is heaps better than the copper coated. I had to paint my copper coated fuel lines after they got wet once

Thanks guys.

Where do you find the best place to buy this stuff?
I'm sure mini places would have it but I'm sure the fittings could be found cheaper elsewhere.
Plumbing store? Brake centre? Bunnings? :D

Get your friendly local parts place to order some in, or go to a brake place. Bunnings or the plumbers won't know what the hell you're talking about.

and when I say brake place I mean brake specialist
Not a muffler shop that changes brake pads. They won't have any either.

I got my stuff (through ebay initially- then followed up with other orders) from Sunbury Brakes - Mike Robertson 39443438 - very helpful
