i jsut got some 12 x 5 mini lites or the car
the front ones fit fine
the back ones are rubbing on the chassis
they have 165/65 tyres on them
what should i do

Pretty common if your running non-spacered drums. You need some 5mm spacers on the back and longer wheel studs to suit (50mm Moke ones work). |

You could go a spacer, but the safer and more legal option is a spaced drum.

5mm Spacers cost around $30 - $40 a pair depending where you get them (wheel shops should have them - they are not Mini specific) and the wheel studs should be around $4 each. Spacered drums are about $60 each new (require 2) and you will need studs also (60mm) so again $4 each. To run spacered drums however you will need wheel flares. Looking at your avatar I don't think you want wheel flares (I wouldn't). |

If you use spacered drums on the back, isn't it necessary to run them on the front as well? What is the legalities of differing front and rear track width? |

Depends on state. I think you can go X amount (I recall 25mm) without an issue if the brakes aren't diagonally split. Since this will still be withing manufacturers specs I think It would be fine. |

Brand new spacer drums cost 110 each from Minisport. That's without studs I think, go to their webiste to find out more... www.minisport.com.au second hand ones should be fine, but I would get them machined to a nice smooth surface before using them. An alternative to front spacer drums is, disc brakes. But obviously that's not for everyone. |

Have a look at a standard mini and the front track is wider than the rear from factory. Cheers Pete |

Cheers Pete That's right. 30mm to be specific (well, actually it's probably an imperial measurement but 30 is what I know it as ).
