Post subject:  HS4 or HIF4
There has been big mobs written about the two carbies but in practice which is the best choice,1275 engine built mainly for torque and reliabilty.Also choice of manifold. Would carbies off MGB be suitable?Thanks

HS4 is a 1.5"... HIF36? is the HIF equiv. Were they also known as HIF4's?

HS6 and HIF44 are 1.75".

Manifold wise, the Russel Engineering manifold is the best, but very long (give them a call for info). Another good one is the Mini Spares.

MGB carbies are twin HS4's? If jetted correctly on a mild to hot 1275, they would be fine. They would need a Mini manifold though.

HIF38 =1 1/2", HIF44=1 3/4" 8)

For a 1275, go for a 1 3/4. Either HS6 (there's one in the for sale :wink:) or HIF44.

I have come to the conclusion that neither is best. There are people who say HIF, and others that say HS. So... they are both as good as each other! :lol:

Don't know, but that is the sort of stuff I'm trying to find out if either has features not desirable.Will be running them as twins.

Just how often do you need to play with the HIF one's, do they go out of adjustment or actually break something?
