Tabs for the tank breathers in the boot, get under the rear of the car on the drivers side & see if the nut for holding the right hand tank strap is captive welded to the floor, hole under rear seat on passengers side, have a look for the fuel pump breather hole, look for hydro lastic pipe holding tabs, the apron brace & flatened down apron for the oil cooler.

If it is a Mk1 it will not have a "Compliance Plate" it will (or should) have an "Identification Plate"
The ID plate should have the following...

TYPE = YKG2S2
Car NO = **** (it should only be 4 digits and this number should be stamped on the body near the plate)
ENGINE NO = 9F/Sa/Y***** (should have 5 digits after the 9F/Sa/Y, the 9F/Sa/Y should be raised letters and the numbers should be stamped from the front)
COLOUR = ???? (If you are lucky the car will still be the original colour)

block is worth about 400-600 dependant on demand
Crank 300ish
shell is worth 1000(rusty) - 5000 (Perfect with good paint)

These are all still dependant on the sellers knowledge of what there worth.

Basically Aaron's given you "good" prices for them , the seller mightn't be thinking that high but then again it might be like a lot of stuff on ebay at the moment and they think it's super rare etc .... Is the block cooper s or 1100s ? Does it have the main bearing caps with it ?

Aaron , why have you guy's got a VW :oops: on the ticker when it's for Hay ... I'll be getting the red vynil seats tomorrow if you're still interested in seeing pic's of them .

it's not a vw, it's a cartoon car, and the only choice on tickers....

Re seats yup still keen to see pics. :wink:

Back on topic

Yeah prices given are a guide and will very much depend on the seller. I got mine for a great price, and so it's just a matter of time, patience and good network of people watching out for you.

$500 is a extremely good price for a S shell, no matter how much work it needs, i'd say go for it.
