Post subject:  what bulb? halogen

i bought the holgen kit a couple of months ago at a ripper price, it fits the mini, its never been used but it didn't come with the bulb, now im wandering should i just go with the 60watt bulbs or go right up to the 100watt, i would need a 25amp fuse,

would this be allright or do i need a bigger fuse,

You'd need to relay the lights, or you WILL melt your wiring. There's a whole chapter about it in the how-to's.

I ran 90/100 globes in the halogens in the LS, bewdiful!

However, i think that the 90/100 globes are illegal for the street.

Any new style light with a 55/60 globe would do fine, but i did alot of night driving in the hills here (read: hooning)

Anything over 55 watts for low beam are illegal on the road. I would suggest +25% 55w/60 H4s (made by Philips and others) as they are legal, draw less power but are nice and bright. I noticed no difference between them and the 90w/100s that I was running.

I used these bulbs on my motorbike. Fantastic lighting, but what I really noticed is that reflective roadside signs really glare back at you, like really badly in fact.

It might have something to do with the height I am on the motorbike, which is higher than the roof of most cars, but once they blew, I didn't replace them with the same.
