Post subject:  dyno results

hey guys had the mini on the dyno today and was'nt very happy with the results.
39bhp and 91nm of torque at 3000rpm.
all this was with a nissan dizzy and the advance was 55degrees advance at 3000rpm which isnt very good is it.

Wind it back if they didn't, or you'll break something- max advance (vac disconnected) should be around 30* when centrifugal advance is all in.
This applies with a Nissan OR a Lucas.

Just re-read your post....at 3000rpm!?!?

Max advance should be about 30 degree BTDC, some books give different figures but this one isn't bad for a naturally aspirated motor running good fuel.

I don't think this has anything to do with the Nissan Dizzy, you can over advance any dizzy. And if that's 55 degrees BTDC at max, that sounds like way too much!

I'm running 20ish (D4R85 dizzy at 5 degrees at around 700rpm) max advance on my car as a safe figure until I go the dyno next week. But my car is boosted (low boost) so it's a bit different for igntion timing.

<edit> Doc, you typed in jsut before me.

I'd say no more than 10 degrees, you will blow ur motor up sadly.

Regraph good but the 30* max advised still applies.
All the regraph does is pull up the bottom end torque, over 3500 there is no difference.
Yes I have 2 running--- 8)

is that with the vacuum line on?
Always set timing with it off.

The weights are the same, he modifies the advance plate to limit advance, and plays with the spring tension. he says...
I did my own 2, I just mod the plate. 8)

Yeah it's all been done before. I once got to argueing with a bloke on here telling me the Nissan dizzy would blow my car up. Yet his info was all heresay. He'd never used a Nissan dizzy.

A warn out dizzy on any discription is crap and bad. Either Nissan or BMC.

Hope your dyno issues work out for the best.
