Just got my cam followers - what is meant by Isky TYPE ? Does it mean they are not really Isy or was Isky a mechanical wiz that that came up with a design that is now copied? |

Yes the C-AEG580 are of a design pioneered by Ed Iskenderian. Not made by him, now anyway. Similar to the C-AEG579 lightened ones, but the Iskys are about 3mm longer which gives more support when used on big cams. I bought some in too. ![]() |

Kev is right. You kow how when big cams are ground such as the RE13, the lobes become smaller diameter, esp near the closed valve part of the cam. Well this equates to the cam follower falling out of it's hole further than if it were on a stock unground cam. Well this means whent he follower is at it's lowest point there is less contact between the follower and the hole that it seats in and therefor increases the sideways loading on a smaller area -> more wear. The isky type designs are longer to make up for this so that it has more contact with the seat. Having a hole in them makes no difference says Graham... They're good. |

Hehe I got invoved in the whole cam follower hole debate over on minimania. I came up with some theories based on the oil fill rates compared to how much comes out of the hole etc....got roundly abused by everybody for daring to challenge accepted wisdom. Bollocks to 'em I say |
