that dumb b*tch!
She's left me.. ..

I've had this problem for a while, where the key is really tight in the ignition barrel and when you turn it, you almost need two hands (two girl hands) to turn the key for it to crank, if you get what I mean.

I tried to start her, she hasnt been started in about a week.
and her battery was flat
so i went to jump start her.
no worky.

so when i decided to start her from the front, i had to push her across the lawn so i could get access to the front of her.
and i connect the jumper cables. and I go to crank it, and then.. the key does a revolution!
And now, its like.. STUCK.
She's permanently trying to cranky

Well...
thats my story.

Please let me know of any bright ideas you have that my solve this predicament of mine :idea:

Yup yup, I know how to hot wire - you're right JC, i dont live in teh western suburbs for no reason ! i didnt have a working barrel for 3 months so i had to hot wire it every time i drove :oops:

It's a bitch though!

but the thing is.. there's no battery to hotwire, or burn the start for that matter..
the battery is completely empty!

But thanks for the tip.. i pulled out the red and white cord anyway

theres a combination of pushing it in and out that results in easy insertion and turning, if its being difficult some sort of lubricant might assist?

Sell it Ok I'm sorry. Get a new ignition barrell... they aren't terribly expensive.

well i wanted to get to back to the smash repairers TODAY so they could fix their pathetic bubbling work!!!!! and i even got up at 7.30 this morning in hope of getting her there by 9... I cant even remember the last time i woke up that early!!!! Raaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaage!!!! You're not funny William

Well Emm, after you again tell willy you hope he never gets laid. Take the thin red and white ??? (cant clearly remember the colour) wire off the solenoid - that way regardless of the position of the key the engine wont continue to crank over and burn out the starter. The ignition may still be on but.... no feed to the solenoid.

I have found the clubman steering lock igntion barrels to be hard to find, expensive when you do (apart from at a generic car wrecker where they have no idea.) and are easy to break. I've been through 2 on my car. It's only done 7000kms...... One the starter part broke I turned to to ign. Then to start I heard a snap, then it stayed at start, did no spring back to ign, and didn't want to start. So I chucked that one in shed and got another which was dodgy from the start, it was earthing itself and short circuiting across the various connectors. That was almost a throw away but due to handy soldering and electrical tape it works again. For how long? Get another igntion barrel when ya can, should be availabe in good 2nd hand form from a mini place. And get your bubbling body re-repaired.

You can also take the ignition assembly to a locksmith and have them clean and repair it - its not that expensive to have it done. Maybe only 20 or 30 nights of restuarant tips. Just joking Emm, but they are repairable.
