hey guys
the wiring in the clubby is nearly done and am nearly at the stage of getting her too a turn key car, i was wondering what people thought of the some dash finishes, is high gloss worth the look or does low gloss grab enough attention, i wanted a super high gloss but dont wont it to get scratched and would it be worth the effort,

I wouldn't go super high gloss for reflective reasons when driving mainly.
Also would show up dust and scratches as you said.
If the surface isn't dead smooth, it'll show up uneveness too.

What kind of dash?

My wood dash and centre console looke nice as it was, but I gave it a gloss coat (on the nice veneer wood) and it came up really nicely. I wouldn't go mega-gloss but glossy is nice for wood.

I reckon high gloss. They look really good and if your going to look after your car after all that effort it doesn't matter if it shows up the dust a bit more. Only problem is if it gets scratched but once again if your careful that shouldn't be an issue either.

You didnt say whether you were wanting to put gloss over woodwork, or use a gloss enamel paint... but sounds to me like you want to paint.

Gloss is extremely annoying (and illegal in some states) to use around the gauges. It reflects the street lights back onto the dials and makes them hard to see.

Just wrap everything in 4mm foam, then leather 8)

I'd say either semi gloss or satin so you see the wood grain/pattern better rather than reflection of whatever's around . ALso it'll stop the flash from other lights/sun annoying you while driving . What speedo are you using ?

But the dash isn't angled so the sun would reflect downwards, not affecting vision - though you may get some sun spots on your legs! :lol:

Go full gloss. 8)

Yeah I agree with above. i first thought "yeah my dash looks good I'll leave it as it is" then my dad said that he would gloss coat it if I wanted so he gave it a thin gloss coat and it looked tons better, then we too ka step furthur and put more gloss on it, and bam, beautiful, really sets the interior off. Makes all veneers of most woods I guess look great.

high gloss and while it's apart paint your speedo ring silver to match the other gauges and sterio. looking like a great improvment
