seeing i just got my Ps.... i dont know if im going to treat my sunshine with the respect it deserves.... ive put alot of hours into it (well between studying for my HSC lol). I dont wanna get its kilometres up (its only got 51 thou), or thrash it or hurt it in anyway and im thinking about getting a less rare mini instead... one that i can drive a bit harder... im so conflicted inside.... do i enjoy my mini... or let it have the life it deserves?

please help!

is anyone at all interested in buying a fairly good condition sunshine?

I am a strong believer that all cars we're meant to be driven.

Keep her, but try and treat her with respect. Not about thrashing, but more along the lines of check the oil, and water frequently, change the oil as stated in the book do all as stated in any good workshop manual and enjoy the car.

If you got a rare and desireable model, keep it to enjoy. Thinking about it the Sunshine was aimed at the younger group. Fun in the sun and cheap motoring.

Keep the sunshine and enjoy it.

Thats a weird comment to make, why not just keep it and buy something else that u can paddock thrash or jump up straight edged gutters...

You don't have to drive a mini hard to enjoy it.
Keep it and drive responsibly, and you'll be right for a long time.

well i would buy something else except that on my meagre salary earning anywhere up to $40 bucks a week.... i find it hard to run one car... let alone two lol.... and then there is the small cost of actually buying said 'paddock thrasher' lol... i could get one in a few yrs maybe if i save $40 bucks a week lol

Well if u earn nothing, why would u buy something else and drive it hard.....? That just increases the chances of something failing, u having an accident, wearing out tyres quicker, using more fuel, increasing maintenance intervals.....

hmm good point.... never thought of it that way.... but im also thinking maybe i shouldnt hav bought a car wen i was 15 lol..... need to repay so much money now lol..... i thought perhaps i cud get some back and catch the train for a while... save some money, then buy a cheaper mini... not one that cost lots to buy, and then lots to restore...

Probably the best thing u did was buy it young.... That gets the car paid off sooner!!!! That way when ur a little older, and have real world bills, like rent/electricity/gas/food/phone/internet you would have paid ur car off... unlike other people ur age, they will probably still b paying off expensive car loans...

I dont know many people who can save enough cash and just buy a car outright without going into debt... Unless there earning a thousand or two a week.....

As with my car, ive sunk $50 grand into it, and all it costs me now is rego and fuel. I bought it when i was 17 and finished it the 2nd time when i was 23.. Id struggle to do it another car like this now that im older.... Bills bills bills....

Sorry to say this, I don't think it would work that way. If you sold your car, chances are you'd come in at a loss for what it cost you, the the transport would eat into whats left, and by the time you come back to another mini, you won't find one cheap that needs minimal work. It's a sad truth now.

Keep the sunshine - people love minis and seeing them for what they are. They weren't made to set o-100's or do burnouts.

If your thinking of selling to get a normal mini - then you have the same problem. Unless you want to buy a wild and breakable engine with a mini attached - then your not in for "fast and furious" adventures! lol.

Treat it kind and drive it nice, do some fast corners and enjoy owning a collectable. After having many tickets in my younger years - let your mates have the fun - it costs money and hurts insurance etc. With $40 a week to save - tickets aren't good.

If you were selling to buy a silvia to thrash, it would make more sense. Although I guess P platers can't drive the turbo's these days.

well how much is a sunshine worth? i mean i thought it be reasonably priced as its now in good shape still work to be done but it runs very well, the brakes actually work (not like wen i bought it), its only done 51 thousand ks etc... all original cept for radiator which was absolutely stuffed... thats wat happens wen a car sits in a garage for like a decade....

anywho i dont know... its geting annoying trying to fit my guitar and amp in wen i play gigs lol... dont try and fit a stack into a mini lol... need more room....

I tried a quad box and and head in my mini....nope. If you take the passenger seat out it may work, but I thought "My mini is too nice for this crap!" So I borrow the parent's mercedes for getting my amp around. Don't worry it's an old benz, and worth next to nothing before anyone gets any ideas....

For normal band practices I take my guitar, a mic stand, a mixer and a bunch of leads to my amtes house in the mini. Tall stuff goes on the passenger seat, or across the back, unless you play bass, it won't fit that way! My mate (the drummer) has a litte 50watter so I use that for practices....
Whoa!! rant over.
