lol....I was removing my fuel tank and forgot to drain it. Ended up with a boot full of petrol. It dissolved that black sealant real quick.... ![]() |

sanding sux bad!!! but you just have to keep sanding, and sanding, and sanding, till its done.. dont think there are any shorcuts LOL... We started on the sealant (black tar) with petrol. but also found turps works as well and probably not a stinky.. gone through a ton of rags, but it comes of pretty easy.. good luck dudes |

Yeah mate hard work will pay off in the end. I will be in the same situation soon when I strip my new MINI K down and respray |

thanx for that guys, the black tar so you have to replace it with anything? and aswell the foam between the boot and the body do you have to replce that? toby, |

Wouldnt hurt to as it is a sound deadner and the foam is to d a simuliar job. |

toby, Personally id leave the foam out....all that stuff is good for is trapping moisture and causing rust. You can replace that black tar with more 'black tar'...such as K + H sound deadener all alternatively you could paint it |

danidad i took an angle grinder to the paint until i saw bare metal and then after i sanded things back even this was on the interior where small bumps n uneveness was going to be covered up by carpet |
