Can someone please supply me with an image of the floorpan from a Mini with remote change gearbox.

IE: Mini Deluxe, Mini K, or early Clubman.

In particluar, the floor profile where the opening for the gearstick is.

A friends Clubman has a bent floor around the gearstick and they want me to bend it back to the right profile.

Slight hijack - mine looks just like that and I want to fill it in as I'm going back to Magic Wand. I know welding a patch in place would be best but I don't have a MIG or TIG. Would a patch secured with pop rivets be acceptable ?

It won't be any less strong than a hole in the floor , just seal around it with a quality automotive sealant as well as rivetting it in case of any exhaust leaks .

Andrew, thank you.

This one....

....is a lot like the car I have to repair. Cracks in the metal and bent edges.

Any idea how this happens?

AND....will a rubber boot retaining ring from a rod change be the same profile shape as the remote change?

The first one can be caused by "spirited driving" and heavy buggers
causes the floor to flex, and cracking around the weakest point
- the gear stick hole.

NFI on the ring
