Post subject: | drifting rwd mini |
hey all juat dreaming about what i should do if queensland transport reject my proposal since the mini will be rear engined with the starlet engine is it possible to drift it? i know short wheel base will make it hard but im just imagining entering it into drift comps and you see these skylines coming round the corner with some 180sx's then comes this tiny black LOUD mini holding a perfect sideways drift ![]() ![]() ![]() cheers, goffy |

If you want to drift, buy a Skyline or Silvia or similar. People aren't drifting these types of cars for no reason. |

It would handle too well to drift! You want it to be light in the rear... Would be a mad track/hillclimb/tarmacrally beast though! |

You can fix that with the right (wrong?) set of tyres though. I can't see why you couldn't get it approved, but the engineering costs will be high. |

Wheelbase is a bit short for drifting imo. |

Sorry if it is posted somewhere else and I haven't read it...but what gear box are you intending to use with this 4EFTE? Will the engine be front or mid-mounted? |

agreed with bloke in a moke, mini's have too short a wheelbase to drift, as soon as you'd loose the back youd spin out. and im not trying to say its impossible......... do what you want mate |

Will the engine be front or mid-mounted? im going to be using the standart 4EFTE gearbox and see how that goes first. ill be rear/mid mounting the engine pretty much exactly like the zcars vtec design except ill have an inercooler mount either on the top or in front 1970 mini K wrote: agreed with bloke in a moke, mini's have too short a wheelbase to drift, as soon as you'd loose the back youd spin out. and im not trying to say its impossible......... do what you want mate
i think thats very likely especially with the extra weight of the engine in the back it wouldnt be that hard to lose it and spin out....however since im going to be using a zcars front subframe with the fuel tank and battery at the front im hoping it may even it out until the fuel gets low then it'd be interesting |
