I am starting to rebuild my motor, I have stripped a blown motor that I had in the shed. I believe it was worked but am trying to determine what cam shaft it has in it. When stripping it had a double row timing chain and sprockets, to my surprise!
The cam shaft lobes varied from 1.295 to 1.302, can anyone help tell me what this is? It also had a bright orange dot on the camshaft.
Steve.

P.S Is it worth putting in my 998?, it looks in new condition, was only run for two years till I cracked a piston.

Ignore those last measurements. The measurments are top to bottom of lobe 1.3. left to right 1.05 using micrometer. This cam shaft came out of an 1100. another cam shaft I have in my shed, also from an 1100 measures top to bottom 1.35 and left to right .9-1.0.

What do these numbers mean?

As I said before the first cam shaft came out of a motor with a double row timing chain, and was led to believe that it had been worked.

Can someone pleasee tell me if it is worth using this camshaft (first one mentioned, or do I use the other 1100 one or stick with the 998 which is still in the motor?

Thanks, steve

The greater the difference between those numbers the more cam lift it has.
PM sent.
