Hi All,
Yes its me again with a similar question to before. The consensus is that i need discs with a 1275, a cost which i am not willing to incur. Rememeber my setup is

1974 leyalnd Mini S with a 998cc in it.. the gearbox needs reconditioning (1st and 2nd synchros) and i think the clutch too, but it runs well.. the minicraft place here in WA has quoted in the vicinty of 800 for the gearbox and around 400ish for the clutch...yet they import 1275's in for $1000 and install for $500

Now my question to all is....
The insurance and rego papers say its a 1098 engine in it and so does the VIN number (according to the particular make and model), however its a 998cc. should i spend this $1500 on a 1098cc engine becasue im one of those that likes the idea of having things original. how much would a recond 1098 cost [with good gearbox and clutch and engine] or do i again stick with the devil I know and fix up the olde 998cc. Anyone in perth have a good 1098cc for sale.. Help again PLEASE...so many ideas, yet NO IDEA!

Keep your 998 block, and stick a 1098 crank and oversize pistons in.
No need to change the engine number.
+.060" rebore gives you around 1152cc... more mumbo than a 998. :P
It'll go up hills way better too. :wink:

i'd go the 1275, and use special compound brake shoe linings,
either way you'll be going from the smoothest, sweetest and most reliable mini engine to something more harsh, rough and more powerful.
