Hey all, ive decided to treat myself, well my mini to a new coil, leads and plugs. But being as mechanical mided as a cheeseburger mmmm cheeseburgers, i was wondering what brands/types would be best for my car. Ok its 1275, its supercharged (with 92's kit) and has an electronic dizzy (or the one without points whatever thats called), but im not sure if its the resistor type, is there anyway i can tell by looking at it.? So depending on that whats the best coil, leads and plugs i should get? thanks heaps, im now off to get some cheeseburgers rock and/or roll trent |

Don't let them suck you in on the leads. You can pay any price you want, but expensive leads don't "make" the spark any bigger or brighter or add any horsepower despite the spin. Just the natty Bosch ones off the rack for five bucks a lead. Best thing you can do for yourself is make sure they are the right length is all. Never any problems with a standard bosch coil, I haven't tried the cheap brands. |

Get yourself some good plugs and replace the leads if they are a few years old....but leave the coil alone if it is working OK...they go forever (generally speaking) |

Oh, as it's supercharged, youre coil will work harder. As atmospheric pressure goes up (as in your supercharged application) the voltage has to also increase to jump the gap, so your coil works harder than in a normally aspirated engine. It 'blows' the spark out so to speak if the coil is not up to it. This might mean spend a couple of extra dollars on a good quality coil and not the cheapest brand you can find. |

Just a decent name like bosch or hitachi or similar. The bosch GT40 works well enough. |
