Excuse my electrical ignorance, but if my coil was stuffed could it possibly be the cause for the reason my engine struggles to kick over. Have followed the whole process from go to whoa, am getting fuel, everything connected, but have to give it a bit of extra each time from my jump starter. Is giving me the irrates. ![]() |

A fair bet. Why not swap it with another & see if there's any improvement. A good methodolgy(?) with Mini electrics is process of elimination, by simply substituting parts. It helps if you know the replacements parts are kosher ![]() |

I had a stuffed coil once - the thing did deliver a spark but the engine would not fire. Probably cause it was dark on a wet night the spark looked bigger and healthier than it was - finally put in a new coil - VARROOM ![]() |

I Had an issue with the ignition switch once, just dropped out so the coil wasn't getting any volts when the key was turned to 'start'. replaced it and "varoom" ![]() ![]() |

If the coil is getting hot (even with engine not running), it's stuffed. Standard Mini dizzy? Get yourself a GT40 or even better (what I have), aGT40T Don't get the GT40R or GT40RT, they are resistor ones, not suited to Mini dizzy's. |

![]() If it struggles to kick over, check it is not over-advanced. ![]() |
