Post subject:  Rollcage where in brisbane :S
Hey all,

Just wondering if any of you brisbane (or other) people know where i can find a rollcage for my mini which will be road legal as it is a large part in the structure i want to get out of the way first. Either a company that makes them or a place that will transport it to brisbane because ive had absolutely no luck so far....there's one of the UK ebay but ive emailed them 3 times and still havent gotten a reply...im looking for a 6 point rollcage

Dunno about QLD but in SA only rear cages are legal, and ONLY when registered as a 2 seater.

hope i can get the 6 point legal cause obviously itll only be a 2 seater cause the engine will be in the back

thats what i meant sorry if i mixed up my words...pretty much the same as z-cars. so im getting the rollcage and then adding some more bars to make my engineer happy and others for taking the engine mounts

Yep Norm Singleton has a good reputation.

I had mokesta's cage built by Keith Fackrel (sp?) of KCF Rally Sport in Kippa Ring. That was about 10 years ago so I don't know if he's still around.

Glen Carpenter says there is a mob making good bolt in cages out western side of Bris. I didn't pay too much attention.

You could buy a Safety Devices cage from minispares or minisport UK. They do weld-in and bolt-in to FIA specs. Freight could be $$$ but I would be interested in looking at one at the same time so we could share the freight.

Front legs etc used to have to comply with the Qld transport code of practice for light vehicle mods which gave head clearance requirements. Apparently, with the move to the DOTARS national code of practice, forward legs are out, irrespective of clearance.

In terms of making the car a space frame structure with mini panels on it. You used to be able to do that as an Individually Constructed Vehicle. Now it is classed as a modified car and must comply with the rules. The ICV route was killed off for all but kit cars because people were importing cars like MX-5s from Japan that were un-registerable, fitting them with Skyline subframes and toyota engines and calling them ICVs. The argument being that the builder had just used a few panels from a wrecked MX-5 to build a kit car.

cars currently/previously registered from previous rules stay, but any "new" registrations need to comply to "new' rules

there goes my idea of welding the door brace bar accross under the door so ther wouldnt be " restriction to entrance or egress ".
