Hi all,
My air filters are in need of replacing very soon and was wanting to go with a good quality long lasting filter or more to the point a K&N filters. they are to go on twin 1 1/2 SU's. I know of at least one person on here that has them on their car but i cant remember who?

Does anyone know the part number for them or do they have to be custom made?

Your avatar shows your current filters briefly.. I don't remember what they're called but I had those on my last Mini (on twin 1-1/4's). What's so wrong with them that you'd want to change to K&N's?

you could use ramflow filters???

the k and n ones are quite expensive, and places like minisport have them in stock.

they may look alright in that little avatar picture, but they are paper like and the rubber surrounds had to be ground down with a grinder in order for them to fit (they are dodgey repco ones) plus that picture is over a year old now, they are looking very dark and dirty now.

This is what i was running before the blower, sorry don't have 2 as i will probably flog this one off soon..
I got this one from autobarn for less than $100, but i did get a discount.
I wouldn't run ramflo's, personal opinion, but i don't believe they match the quality of the k&n product... Part no. is 56-9320. That is for 1 1/2 inch...

K&N are worth the extra dollars. They will bolt straight on and look like this..

Ive got Finer Filters that fit into my Ramflo filter housings. The stock Ramflo filters are crap.

I have read somewhere that those tapered K&N filters don't flow that well. Depends what you want from your engine.

I have K&N's and IMO they are worth it. You won't regret it.

very shinnyful su's u got there hanra, then again your car is pristine everywhere!!! personally i dont like the ramflow ones IMO, with K&N at least i kno i am getting quality, a bit of performance and durability/reuseability.

what seems to be the problem with the tapered filters 1018cc?? its for a daily driver too btw....

I think some one posted up something on here that KC did in the UK and he showed on a dyno that they don't flow as well - the standard airbox on the car with a replacement good quality filter made more power than the tapered K&N. I don't think that there was much in it but it showed on the dyno.

Depends what you want - if you just want it to look good then go for it but if you are after a bit more power as well then I would probably go the cylindrical pancake style ones or ramflows with different internals like Hanra's.

I think ramtubes probably flow the best, but may not look as good. I mean chrome ram tube (aka trumpets) look great, but but don't look as cool with the redline filters on them. I believe ramtube + redline filter would be the best performance and filtration.

I have it on the HIF44 which faces forward so space is not really an issue, with the baulkhead it may well be.

I used to run ram-flos on my twins and the fine, they looked nice too.
