Idiot P platers on the M5
Coming back from the show and shine in penrith today a group of us were coming back down the M5 and had an idiot in a supra or the like decide to under take us and then almost wiped out my wife in her mini along with my little bot, and then almost took me out as well. To top it off he was doing that on the inside curb... So naturally fatherly and husband instincts kicked in and off i went! Followed closly behind by Adam in INIM. A supra or whatever it was is obviously faster than a mini, but we caught him, Adam first, who i think gave him a serve, then i got around him, and gave him a little brake light. Idot got all crossed up and that must have scared him a bit. Funny thing was i was still on the go pedal so he just freaked at the left foot brake... Idiot. Next set of light he got out and grabbed a baseball bat! Funny, i laughed at the guy and his "possee" and how he was going to mess up my car! My line, "go right ahead mate, it needs a new paint job anyway!" HE got in the car drove off with everyone in it swearing and cursing. Why is it these type of people are allowed on the road?
Adam had an incident on the same road, only 5 minutes earlier. Best bet i think is not to drive your car on sunday afternoons, the idiots are all out and there aiming for us!
Sorry about that guys but i had had enough and needed to vent.
Cheers

ohhh bloody idiot i dont blame u for going after him. I think there shoulb be some type of limitations for P platers on engine size etc. I think with bikes its good that while u are on your L's your only allowed a 250cc max. Hope u might have knocked some sense into the guys head(doubt it).
Thanks for showing us the way today was a nice drive and i thouruly enjoyed it, shame i had to leave. I dont know how many red lights all of us went through today :P :P

The van won best commercial
Steve and mickeys elf won best "non mini"
steve and mickeys dorothy won best 850
Adam's rover was runner up to a BMW in best "new mini"
So we pretty well all won, shame you didn't hang around you may have won something! Good to see you on the run.

Cheers

not true anymore, its power to weight ratio, for instance l platers arent allowed to have a 125 aprillia because they are so light.

OK Aaron, no matter what anyone says I think you did the right thing. Too many times these A-Holes drive like idiots and because there a a few of these guys in a car people are intimidated by it and do nothing. It's because of this that they continue doing it. THe fact that they did nothing after getting out with a B Ball bat shows the gutless cowards they really are (If they didnt outnumber you 10 to 1 they would be worried they were going to get their heads kicked in so they just leave).

yo yo yo....Aaron, U messin wif da possee man...u gunna get knifed man....

I bet you were real calm and collected when they were going bezerk....I can just picture it.

I saw a guy driving like an idiot in front of me in some turbo supra recently. The guy in front of him (an old grey haired dude) stopped and the supra driver got out with a baseball bat. I pulled up right behind him and got out as well......when this guy saw it was 2 against one, he got back in his car, but had no where to go because I had parked him in.....it was sooo funny seeing him act like a coward in his car....

firstly, mr cooms i think a limit on engine capacity would
be fine (inother words we are both in minis and our biggest
engine capacity would come witin miles of any limits ha ha)

secondly, there are a lot of idiot p-plters, but i really don't think all
of this macho testosterone behaviour is going to get you anywhere,
i know of a lot of p-platers and alot of agro ones that would not
hesitate to swing a baseball at your head or knife you...so moral
of the story be careful when you go crazy cos you were lucky he
was a coward, but many are not...

Well done Jam, strike up another point for the mouse that roared.

My favourite story involves Bob Jane (legendary race car driver, tyre dealer) It's the stuff my dreams are made of.

Many years ago when he was racing Jags he was cruising the streets of Melbourne on his way to work in his Jag (Not sure of the model, one of those old round big heavy ones used by British Gangstars). He pulled up at a set of lights and a group of young boys on a new XY GTHO pulled up along side. They recognised Jane and started revving and challenging him to a race, He jus ignored them and kept looking straight ahead. The lights went green and the Ford took off and Jane just motored away from the lights. The Ford slowed down and waited for Jane at the next Red light, this time they got a little more aggressive and started yelling insults etc. The lights went green and again jane just motored along still looking straight ahead and ignoring the hoons. The Ford again waited for Jane and this time pulled in behind the Jag and started tailing close, flashing lights, blowing horn and yelling abuse. At the next red the Ford was behind the Jag, While the light is still red, Jane slowly creeps forward into the intersection, the guys behind start laughing thinking they have Jane worried and he's trying to run the red to get away. Then the light goes green and Jane wacks the big Jag in reverse and with a three or four car run off floors the Jag and slams it into the front of the XY, Puts her back into drive and simply motors away leaving the XY sitting in a pool of radiator fluid.

NOW that's a legend

I totally agree that this P plater was a total drop kick, I do have a question though. When he passed you did he use the left lane or the shoulder? If he used the left lane then what were you doing in the right lane if you weren't overtaking?

Wolfman, he was on the shoulder! There were 6 mini's coming down the road and that makes things a little slower, so we were using the slow lane. It's a three lane road and obviously this drop kick thought it was a 4 lane road, one esspecially for him. I would have let it go if he hadn't just about wiped out my entire family.
Anton yes i was explaining myself quite calmly and then when he really started going off, just a knowing smile. Made him stop and think for a second.
We were coming back that way mrcooms as stsve and mickey were going home and we went to have a look at doogies wifes car with it's new paint. and to check out the progress of the Mk2. Busy boy or doogie.

Cheers

I'm a P plater, yes I occasionally drive like a dickhead, but not where I can endanger others. Why restrict all P platers because of the dickheads? It sucks that we all get put in the same boat, all these accidents so they want a P plater curfew etc. Why should all the bad apples be able to spoil it for everyone?

I am 21 and well as you can see from my picture on the left, I think you can work out what I do for a living. In the last two and a half years where i work I have been to three fatal car accidents and I know of two others and the following contributed:

1 was due to drugs and the person passed out
1 was a learner in a stolen car drag racing (killed his gf)
1 was after a guy had 12 valium and a bottle of scotch on his cycle
1 was a p-plater on the highway at HIGH speed, lost it, spun 3-4 times, then rolled a few times before sliding into a telegraph pole (front passanger died)
1 was a p-plater lost control, rolled and slide sideways on its roof into a wall. Rear passanger (17) died, one lost her hands and driver got a concussion. She had her licence for 2 weeks (Speed is a major factor).

Oh yeah and 50% of all accidents ive been too involved P platers and/or alcohol. Now thats in one small portion of the state.

Then i go to newcastle on a wed, thur or friday night and on sundays (yes to look at the pretty cars) but i see soooooooooooooooooooo many p-platers driving around in WRX's, SURPA's, V8's etc. Alot of them drive responsibly because they realise how much money they put into their cars. But some of them just dont give a crap.

I personally think that the following will work:

- Maximum engine horsepower limits for p-platers (we all now u can pump huge amounts of horsepower out of small engines)
- At least a one day advance driving course for all drivers before they get their p-plates.

The curfew idea, will not work.

Anyways ive had my bitch, just thought id tell you my feelings which have been influenced by my experiences.
