hey guys/girls been a while since ive posted here and thats because.....i drifted away.. i got my p's last year in julyish and proceeded to take ownership of a 1984 BMW 528i....i was gonna get a mini roundie, but nice ones were too expensive, anyway, there is a point to my rambling. the time has come for me to upgrade my car and i am sick of the fuel consumption of the BMW, 12L/100km is not good. so i thought about steering back towards minis...thing is....i havent been following the forums and stuff here since i got the BMW ![]() so everyone has to convince me back to WHY I SHOULD GET A MINI!!!!...btw i love the roundies..not so keen on clubmans. can people let me know what the average pricing is these days, and also hows insurance? thanks everyone ![]() btw.......i have to get out the old issues of mini experience.....get back up to speed on my knowledge. |

if your worried about fuel consumption, don't buy a mini.... There old cars, they break, they give you greif at the most inconvienient times and they cost alot of money to keep maintained the way they should be. Having said that, it's a mini, it looks cool, handles great, you can have a cruiser or a powerful one. You will look cool as your not driving a generic car (BMW, FORD, HOLDEN etc) So if you like to be looked at, then get a mini. But if your not willing to spend money maintaining your car, then don't buy a mini as like all old cars they cost money. Cheers Aaron |

To me the breaking is not grief. Well it is at the moment but 5 minutes later it gives me an excuse to work on my car that weekend. It actually annoys me when I come to a weekend and think "what do I do to my car, it works for now...." haha. I love mini's and it's truly is fun. Get a reliable standard car. My car has lots of problem from time to time. But when I need to get to school and my car is apart I hop into the Clubman and it's always going great. Only ever had 2 problems in the 2 years of driving it. It got vapour lock on a 44 degree day in summer, a squirt of water down on the fuel pump fixed that. And the clutch wore out. But it was on it's way out when we bought it. |

well my budget would be something around the 6-8 grand mark and i figure that that should give me a good decent car to work with.....specially looking round carsales and carpoint where the cars have had a lot of engine work and replacement of parts etc allready done. i do realise the maintenence needed to keep one of these machines on the road.....not too fussed. dad used to have a modded 850 and he could give me a hand if i needed it. plus with the BMW wasnt that handy to be able to repair yourself.... btw checking out 1 car atm and it says its got a flip front, thats where the WHOLE bonnet from the channels going down the doors flips forward? right? cheers edit: btw are some of you trying to stop me from getting one?? ![]() |

Not sure about legalities of it for every state so I wont say any more on that. 6-8 grand! Awesome! Most people I've seen on here talking about first mini think they can get a really nice one for a grand or 2 just because you can get a nice holden gemini for that. Well sorry. For your budget you'll be able to get a beautiful, roundy that goes great and looks great! |

If you need us to convince you to buy a Mini then don't buy one. We have them because we love them not because someone else has talked us into it ![]() Ziff |

Many of my friends think my Mini (and my other mates) are great, really fun! But then some others don't get it and they never will. They drive old skylines and Honda Civics and such. Bsacially, if you have to ask why, you don't want one. If you know straight off that Mini's are fun and great, you'll love it. |
