Post subject:  Another dumb question about jump starting

Now please help me out. I have a Moke, which sometimes after sitting a days with it's cut off switch not turned off  needs to be jumpstarted.

So as you know Mokes batteries are tucked away in that little compartment that you need a big screwdriver to open. I know Dad sometimes jump starts it off somewhere in the engine bay, could someone photoshop my pictures with little circles, ( I've seen done on here before) where the leads need to be attached :D

Thanks heaps for this, I am starting to sound like a dumb chick who knows nothing about my own cars

Put the POS red jumper lead where i put the red dot.

The NEG black lead needs to go to a good earthing point. Usually there is an earth strap from the clutch housing to the body. Looking at the engine like this, its on the LHS towards the front of the car sort of at the bottom of the clutch housing...

Just put the negative on something with not a lot of paint on it like a clean bolt or the hot water take-off at the end of the head near the solenoid. The cleaner the connetcion point and the more of the clamp touching it, the quicker/stronger/better the jump start.

Connect negative last, that way there's less chance of shorting the positive out on the frame when you connect it up. Same with removing it, take the negative off first.
