Post subject: | Clicking noise... Problem Found... Temporary Fix |
When I'm accelerating I can hear a clicking noise from the engine bay... well that's what it sounds like from inside the car. When I'm sitting on the speed limit 50/60/70 whatever it is at the time I can't hear it. EDIT: I can't hear it when I just sit there and rev it either so it's only under load that I can hear the noise. |

MM - No extra noise on full lock S850 - Oil level is just over max If listening closely I can hear it a little when revving the car. Could it be a hole in the exhaust? |

Yes...could be a manifold gasket....try dribbling a tiny bit of oil along the top edge of the gasket to see if it blows bubbles.... [edit: don't dribble the oil from your mouth ![]() |

About half way to work today I slowed down for a set of lights and my car started to sound like a VW Beetle ![]() There was no loss of power so I just kept driving to work. Go to work, flipped the front and spotted 2 holes in my extractors ![]() There's supposed to be a bit of metal connecting the 2 pipes but that seems to have disappeared. One of the holes... ![]() both holes... bit hard to see ![]() the connection from the y-piece to the motor... ![]() So now I'm looking for a replacement. |

Bit of weld, she'll be right. Its a sign that the metal is thin and probably won't last long. |

Bought some Loctite exhaust repair and put it on today. Cut up one of last nights cans of 'Beam & coke' into 2 20cm squares (which it says to do), covered the holes then wrapped the repair ribbon/tape around the exhaust. You are supposed to ide the car for 20-30 minutes so that the heat makes the ribbon harden. This is the result... it's only temporary as I planned to get new extractors anyway. ![]() ![]() |
