ok found out today i have no stop lights and number plate lights too.
tail lights fine just no stop lights.
as this is my first mini (1970 deluxe) silly question maybe but where are the fuses?
as i can gather ther are two in the engine bay. they are fine
im thinking it may be something else as the tail lights work
the only thing that is not working is my indicator light in dash.
are the number plate lights the cause of my problems or could it be in the wiring or switches
help please

Very likely the brake light switch on the brake pedal has failed.

when this happened to me, it was the little hydraulic switch in the engine bay, look for a little cylinder with wires coming out of it thats piped into the brake lines.

that might be it.

Dirt contacts on the fuses???

Mine did that a while ago. A touch of emery paper and off once more.

Number plate light should be a seperate thing as it's earthed and powered seperately . There may be a fuse up under the scuttle (near the windscreen wiper tube) behind the air cleaner . It's normally for the park lights but someone might have swapped things about , it's worth checking anyway . Failing that take the wire off the brake light swtch which is on the subframe directly below (sort of) the master cylinders and earth it (I think it's an earth type switch from memory) and see if the lights come on .

after i fixed the clutch saturday though id give the brakes a good bleeding.
front drivers hose had a crack in it so had to replace it.
in doing so it was threaded at the top under that hydraulic switch thingy
so we had to pull it apart and chisel it loose.
so my guess is its the connections, will check tomorrow night after work.

not even faulty brake lights will stop me from going on my first run this sunday
