Post subject:  Warning about soda blasting

Have found the following link from the US of A where quite a few people have been having issues with their new paint jobs after the car has been soda blasted. Am not sure if the soda over there is any difference to what is used here but thought it is worth a read anyway.

My local blaster will not use soda on cars. He uses polymer grit. No side effects.

yeah I had my cooper blasted all those years ago with plastic bead. If you dig around in the rail under the dash (where the master cylinders come through into the cabin) you will still dig them out.

Great job though.

Interesting read.

I wire-wheeled my entire shell after the soda blast anyway, I have nothing to worry about.

I'd probably go all over mine with a green scourer and phosphoric acid, but you would anyway. Anyone who paints straight over any surface without cleaning and preparing it first is asking for their paint to fall off. Whether its a wall in your house or a show quality car. Paintwork is all in the prep.

Someone posted in that link a way to neutralise the soda, but I'd be doing what GT did and wire wheel it or sand it and neutralise it also.
