Describing exactly what you were told, rather than "or something" would be a good first step.Oh and is it a MINI (modern BMW produced car) or a mini (classic mini)?

Anyway Shannons are known for not being keen on insuring under 25 year old (especialy 18 yr olds). It does depend on who youre talking to over there as different employees seem to have different views on a "desirable" customer. Joining a car club would help, so would insuring the car in a parent's name with you listed as a full and regular driver.

Oh and try Vigil if Shannons cant help you.

Hi mate, you're the guy with the Black Rover right?

I think you are having problems insuring the car with Shannons because they are very fussy about cars being garaged at home. When they asked you where will it be garaged what did you tell them? Do you have a garage at home that you could use?

They don't need to know that you park it at work during the day, just tell em where you keep it each weeknight of the week. I.E your garage if you have one.

Like some others - I dont think that where its parked at work is the full story. They also look at the car and judge its condition, they certainly review driving records (they have computer access to drivers records) and to an extent they make decisions on the drivers attitude.

Any one who has a suspended licence in the last 5-10 years and is at the 25 yo mark would have problems getting insurance at a reasonable cost.

they wont insure you because for somereason your a bad underwriting risk.

and popular to what the rest of you seem to think, where it is parked during
the day (ie your work) bears a huge relevance over the risk of your vehicle.
when it comes down to it, its kept there for the majority of the time!!

Yeah I used to be insured with Vigil. Not any more I'm now with Shannons & much happier. Interesting to note according to that site Vigil will not insure a Ford XR6 if it is used daily!
They are so common. I wouldn't have thought they were such a significant insurance risk. They don't say they have a problem with a Commodore S or SS though. Seems a bit selective to me. :?
