Post subject:  Car Clubs...
Which Car Club should i join...
Has to be CAMS affiliated as i wish to go in Supersprints, motorkhanas, hillclimb's and later in the year race meetings.
I have a 4EFTE powered mini and a GTR Skyline that i want to run.
Which club will let me run both of these cars.... (i am not allowed to run the GTR in certain clubs as it is a non Mini)
Wanting to join a mini club anywhere in Australia that will help... not one that is into pool parties and fondue nights, i want a real mini club.
Any suggestions???

As far as I am aware, you can quite happily run your GTR with the SA miniclub. They are a great bunch of people and they run many different car's at various events. They do always seem to be considered the Prim version of club in comparison to the other club nowadays. Things have changed from that point i think.
If your not keen, then MCCNSW will let you run what ya brung, but it makes it hard to attend events. Of course you could always move the shop to sydney and make us all happy :wink:

MCC of Vic is good, and has an open policy too i believe. They other clubs to look at are the reanult clubs. They do tend to be into various forms of motorsport and other than having an obsesion with french cars, seem to be nice people :wink:

Thought about Sporting Car Club? They aren't a mini club, but have a few Mini's in it, although mostly Lotus 7 copies it seems.

Thought about it... maybe even Nissan/Datsun or Southern Districts.
would prefer a mini club though.

Failing that try the Sprite Club, dam I wish Hotbricks allowed other cars, it does annoy me that they don't, I want to historically register an old Mercedes in 2 years when it's eligible and don't feel like joining another club.

Nissan/Datsun immediately sprung to mind.....thats what most people from hotbricks used to join when they wanted to use another car.....and you have a nissan :)

I think they are considerably cheaper than the sporting car club too....

I was under the assumtion that hotbricks was what he was talking about as they won't let him run a non mini in cometition.
If you only want to join a club to run your CAMS liscence and you don't attend any events, (as you say your happy to join an out of state club, I am assuming this to be true) then why not join?
If not, then hotbricks, they have no right to tell you what car you can and can't run at motorsport events. If they were to tell you not to run you can tell them to go get ..... your club license is not your CAMS license and if hotbricks don't like it, they need to pull there head out of the sand :roll: I reckon Steve, if it takes you to shove it up em and run a non-mini at events then you should.

Just cause a club has fondue nights & pool parties, no one forces you to attand these events, if you want to be motorsport only then just go to motorsport events, simple.

Don't forget people, in a few years club level motorsport will be virtually gone, we can thank motorsports governing body CAMS (conspricy against motor sport) they are the ones who are killing it, with directors,stewards & officals now having to be accredited, no one is interested in running events.

I know we in the Mini car club of NSW are extremeley lucky to have a fantastic motorkhana/khancross ground in Sydney that we hardly get to use due to the fact we have the same band of 3-4 people who can direct events, and they get sick of it, thank you CAMS for driving the nail through the coffin of club motorsport.

How does one get accredited fr such events??

Hey 2 S's & a clubman, know what you mean.. I am a member of the Gippsland Car Club and we run hillclimbs, sprints and khannacross.

I am also an accredited official and Chief Steward at most of out meets and CAMS certainly are not making it easy for grassroots racing..

With all the new paperwork and regulations that is required just to run a hillclimb, etc, it is coming to the stage that people wont volunteer to help within the clubs at meetings because of all the carry on and some small clubs will soon go to the wall because of it..

I think too many people working in CAMS are not really into car racing and it's just a job for them.. Plus some of the top officials are too rapped up in F1 or V8 Supercars and expect every race meeting to be run like them...

Can't and wont happen in small clubs that as you say, have the same band of 3-4 people who can run and direct events and always having problems to get officials to help out on the day.

I have been a member of Mini Club SA...
wasn't the club for me.

I own a mini, i drive a mini... i want to go to events that i can actually use my car... not the fondue nights or pool parties
