what is better? when people say wet rub sand paper do they mean use it dry or wet it?
im lost??
or do i do both electric sander then wet rub?
how to kill surface rust? just sand it off?

...different horses for different courses....
Orbital sander for thick paint, crazed paint, fast removal, etc 400 wet / dry (used wet) for decent painted surfaces, delicate areas, smoothing finish Sand surface rust as much as you can. Don't rely on rust treatment solutions...sometimes they just put a layer over the top of rust, rather than neutralise it. |

dude it's totally up to you what you want to achieve with a respray. Personally I cant stand opening the door on a car and it's a different colour inside. That even goes for under the carpet.... But you are correct in saying that no one should see it..... |

the aim of the game is to preserve the body. no point not painiting the inside, but i would not worry too much about the finish if you are putting trim over the top. the important thing is to make sure that the primer goes on clean rust free surface so it can bond properly.

It will also prevent it from rusting any further and cause you to respray in a few years time |

on the paint subject guys....whats the procedure for painting if you dont want to completely strip back to bare metal??......as in some bits are bare metal where rust has been repaired (cut and patched) and other bits are what looks like dull clear coat or maybe even primer??? cheers -jimmy |
