Post subject: | Link Automotive Blower Kit |
That Link Automotive Blower Kit that was available some time ago, does any1 know if it is still being sold. I believe that it was a complete kit (huffer,belts,pulleys,brackets,1.75in SU) Has any1 ever had any experence with this kit?? I realise its pricey but if its all there and fits easily saves me stuffing around tryin to make other crap fit!!! What sorta mods would be suggested for the g/box/diff/cv's?? What sorta comp ratio would be suitable? What about engine mods, I have 1330cc runnin 9.75:1 hypatec piston/rings, Russell Engineering ported/flowed head. Comp ratio up round 10:1 now with head shave and block slightly decked. New everything else (motors only done 8000klm) What about s/c drop gears, would they be needed runnin standard boost? Gettin bored with ASPIRATED!! |

Far as i know thaey are still avaliable. Your comp ratio is to high it will have to be around 8.8:1. Why no just ring them and chat about what the kit has. 03 9873 3874 Link Automotive |

Brad, the s/charger kit will probably give around 120 - 130hp and provided you are not on the loud pedal all the time and savage on the gearbox, your big idler bearing box rebuilt properly and setup properly will do the job without the need for s/cut drops or gears. Similarly, if your CV's are in good order and they should be disc brake CV's, they will do the job. Can't help you with the comp ratio, talk to Link about that, they will know. Steve |

Hmm, that might be hard to do if Ive got 120bhp on tap!!!! Yeah I'll have to give em a ring try and sus out all the detalils. They featured a LS clubman in Mini Magic years ago, it was there test mule, they reckon they would get a 14sec pass out of it on standard boost and a 3.44 diff!!! |

Just repeating what I read! Doesnt seem that out of reach, my 1330 can keep up me mates V6 crummodore. Chipped, exhaust/extractors, shift kitted auto, 4.11 diff! Be interested to see what sorta difference a huffer would do? |

Did you see this conversion by Stuart Gurr, using a NEW MINI blower- http://www.vmaxscart.co.uk/ goto supercharger kits. Looks a better kit to me... ![]() |

Ahh interesting!!!! Whats $1650 in ozzy dollars these days??? Sounds like it has more than the link kit has, Even comes with a cylinder head!!!! Wonder what its worth without the head? Might have to do a bit of investigating cause that sounds like a pretty good deal. Thanks for the lead Kevin. Have emailed Stuart at Vmax re the charger kit, so hopefully will get a reply and a little more info. Keep you posted. |

That's Pommy QUIDS mate, not dollars.. ![]() Multiply by 2.5 then add all the duties, freight and BS. Probably finish about the same A$ as the Opcon Autorotor one is here. Looks to have more potential though, for racing or hooning.. ![]() |

Got onto Stuart at Vmax, he has quoted 1450 quid plus 120 quid freight for the kit without the cylinder head. Comes with a de-compression plate to drop comp raito to 8.5:1. Its the entire kit, is a DIY kit which needs no bodyworks. Stuart has quoted 160bhp once set up correctly on a dyno. Thats better then the Opcon kit that Link sell. Very very tempting, just need a strong box/diff/cv's/shafts..... |

Amazing isn't it- U take the blower off a 165HP, 1.6L, OHC 16 valve motor with fuel injection and ign mapping etc and drop it on a 1275cc? pushrod 8 valve Mini with a few other trinkets, and you get nearly the same power as the BINI S had! ![]() |

Yes, its surprising. I know which car Id rather be driving though!!!! Same with all new pus box engines these days. They r so detuned to lower emmisions and get fuel economy. Look at holdens gen III 5.7 chevy. When they 1st came out in the VT SS commodore (Opel Omega) they had like 200 odd kw, when you could get that sort of go out of a carby 5.7chevy using a crapy manifold and set of extractors, maybe a mild cam. Obviously the injected engine is going to be a lot more smoother in power delivery. Id love to have 160bhp in a 650kg car, and hose some of these try hards up here in there battler mobiles!!!! |
