Post subject:  6000 stock rpms...good?

hey all

i tuned my 1/14 single su on the weekend and then went for a thrash. is this any good for a stock 998?

i've been looking at those recon twin 1 1/4 su's on ebay for $350. it seems a bit steep but they look like they've had a lot of work done to them (well, polishing anyway)

thanks

on my way to more power

6000 is all you can expect from a stocko 998, many quit at 5500.
If you are tuning it with cam, head work etc, fit Cooper dual valve springs whilst it's apart.
For higher RPM than stock you should fit a harmonic balancer to replace that tin crank pulley too.

yes...well i'm waiting for my newly purchased 'how to modify your mini' and plan to do a little head work.

it seems that's they way people are thinking these days i.e. working the head.

i remember a few years ago, the big craze was carbie and exhaust mods.

Yeah it has always been a craze (if you don't have a lot of money or time to spend) to do just one easier and small part of the job.

You can buy an exhaust or carb setup and bolt it on in the same time it took you to buy it. Head work is a bit more involved and expensive.

If you're smart, it'salways done as a package, intake/head and manifold. Vizard will tell you all about this method.
