hey guys my car is ready to spray (woo hoo), the question is which paint is best, which is crap, what have you sprayed your cars in? its getting sprayed in 2pk (theres nothing wrong with acrylic paint i know, but the car has been prepped for 2pk since the start), colors are dove grey body and old english white roof. the price of what you got would be good too (per litre) ![]() |

I used PPG two pack. I'll never use anything else. But you need to have a very good quality respirator and your prep work should be spot on (as it always should). But the end job is a very good, hard finish. I did use a few products in my restoration from a company called K&H. I'll never touch them again. Every time I used one of their products I had problems. Substitued with another brand and no problems. |

I bought 4L of Jet Red 2 pack, hardener, 4L of thinners, also 4L of 2 pack hi-build primer etc, it cost me $543 for the lot. It is Concept brand, bought from VG Auto Paint. All still sitting in the garage- daily driver not quite prepped yet. ![]() |

For 2 Pack Paints I know you wouldn't be disappointed if you used Glasurit. Might seem expensive in the initial purchase but you'll forget about the cost when your applying it and see the final result. Other brands I'd recommend are Spies Hecker and PPG Some of the cheaper brands can produce quite a good finish but majority of them you really have to work them or have a good understanding on how to get the best result from them. If your getting a qualified spraypainter to paint the car I'd really recommended using the products they use daily as they will have worked out the best way to get the best finish. |

cool, thanks for the replies. heres what i've been told, the most expensive stuff is the most hard wearing and leaves the best finish but its the hardest to spray, tends to get runs. i've heard ppg and cobra are good all rounders. i wouldnt dream of using anything cheap, if you've followed my resto thread you'll understand. judging by what the doc said, 4L of grey and 1L of white should be around $500. the body work and prepping is so good, im not about to take a shortcut on the paint. thanks guys |
