I took the newest family member for a drive today - unregistered and uninsured.... (hey, its my birthday, i just want to have a bit of fun). I had 30 minutes to kill before I went to work, so I thought that taking the mini for a short burn wouldnt be a problem.

Well, it started out good..... went down the street, around the big tree at the end. All nice and smooth from the engine and gearbox, but brakes are not so good and pulling to one side.......

Hmm....

Started coming back up the street (yes its a hill)...... and the engine died. Turned the key - cranking but no life. Sounds like it is out of fuel. Tank would have about 3 litres in it at the most, so yeah, probably not enough.

Bugger. Gotta leave for work in 15 minutes.....

Locked the car, ran back home, grabbed the jerry can, drove the BMW to the servo and got some more juice..... put another 3 litres in the tank and she started no worries.

BUT.... I only managed to drive another 150 metres, up the hill to the front of my house, before the engine died again.... with the same symptoms.

Surely it didnt just use all those 3 litres???? Mini tanks drain at the lowest point, via gravity, yes??? Must be a carby or fuel pump problem.

Looks like i got my punishment for breaking the law  Bugger. I was almost enjoying my special day too.....

And suddenly you were late for work! Funny how things happen like that - ahh, I've got heaps of time to go and do that and something stuffs up and your late.

At least you fitted a bit of a drive in on your Birthday.

I actually had to fit a bit of a push in too.... cos it stalled in the middle of an intersection

I'll fit a facet pump and see if that makes a difference...
