I'll try again with this question. There must be someone out there who has had the same problem.

I have just about completed a resto on a 1970 MK 2 S but would very much like to install an original under bonnet insulation/sound deadener. I know there are after market ones but I want to try and make or buy the original thing which is either rockwool or fibre glass insulation stuff bonded together into a one piece shape that fits under the bonnet.

Any help would be appreciated.

I have never had a Cooper S or a mini for that matter that had under bonnet sound proofing material as standard from the factory.

I vaguely remember seeing it as an after market product way back then.

All I ever saw was the fibre backed vinyl strip across the firewall.

Its just my experience though.

Same here only ever seen it as after market stuff for early Minis. I've seen some of the kits about saying "like original" firewall material :?
