Who has a daily Mini and a Weber fitted to it?

What's it like for daily driving? Thirsty? A dog in traffic?

I have never owned a Weber, but I love the sound.

Yes I have one fitted to my daily.

I can get 250-300km (I really should get my speedo fixed to work this out) on a long range tank. Traffic isn't bad down here, speed limit ranges from 50-70km/hr

it's a one owner gt... it's special enough..

don't be anal and make it original

leave it on and enjoy the sound

It funny how even a one owner car can end up being modified.

I have nothing to swap this Weber with anyway, so I am really wanting people to let me know what to expect by keeping it.

he ever had any issues.

They are fantastic.

Two pumps in teh morning, then start her up.

Can be a bit of a pig when cold.

Accelerator pumps ROCK... You will be driving the car harder to hear the noises

i think the noise mostly depends on what filtration you use...

i'm sure the good doctor has vizard trialled most options..

there's nowt wrong with a mildly modified car, it'a a weber.. it's an historic mod.... and historic mods are cool..

it's not like it's been butchered with a hacksaw bonnet scoop and a wobbly starlet motor....

i had a weber on my sillycar, when it opened the 2nd jet it gave a real kick to the power! but even on a single jet it ran too rich and wasted all my fuel down the exhaust pipe

i highly Recommend the weber, i love mine goes like a dream in traffic and has heaps more power its a 40dcoe

That's cause it wasn't setup properly.

Anton, Other than the fact that it is noisier, produces more power hence more fuel used (More fuel + more air = more power) there's nothing to complain about. I think the difference in fuel usage compared to twin SU will be minimal (like 1-2L more per 100km).

I think the perception that they use more fuel comes from that fact that when you do have a weber you are much more tempted to fang her so you will use up more fuel due to that alone than anything else! If you baby her around she will give you average milleage if it is jetted properly. It's logical, air fuel mixture should stay around 12 lamda so I can't see why a car with twin SUs will use up more fuel at 12 Lambda than a weber at 12 lambda. Make sense?? The only differing factor is 1) the throttle pump which you can get past by not constantly stomping on the pedal and 2) Revs.

On another note, the difference in everyday driving will be that you can't directly stomp on the pedal full trottle from low RPM. this will result in a puff of black smoke and nothing much else...

As long as it is setup properly there is no reason it shouldn't be fine for a daily driver. Since it was on the car when you bought it, I bet it is set up for that engine and drives well enough, and if you go back to twin SUs then you have to fart-arse round setting them up. It isn't broken at the moment is it? I think you should leave it there, it's part of the historical significance of the car, or something like that...

They do use a bit more petrol, but don't you have twin tanks?

webers and minis they rock,stick with the weber mine is awesome if it ever rains again 4th gear wheel spin but only 3 gears in the dry WEBER

Properly tuned, no reason they should be bad in traffic.
My 45 Dellorto with 38 chokes is better in traffic than our 1293 with twin HS4s is. Less of a pig when cold too.
And, it sounds like a pair of Harleys...

I had a 45DCOE on my daily & I loved it

Fuel use (and smell) is OK, but you have to like the induction sound otherwise it's just too much noise.
