Post subject: | Front bearing seals: which one goes where? (asap please) |
I have just opened the front wheel bearing kit and I have three different seals. A white, flat plastic one, and two black ones. The black ones are different, one is slightly larger in diameter and has a concave interior face. It also has a 2mm step on the non spring side. The other black seal looks more like what goes on the back wheel bearing. It is narrower and has a constant taper inside. So, what goes on the CV, what goes on the drive flange, and where does the white one go? I have four books, and they're all useless. ![]() Thanks. ![]() |

hey mate, the white plastic type one you will see fits on top of the black seal that has the lip. this one goes on the same side as the CV. the flat one goes on the front side. cheers chris |

Thanks mate, the white one had me confused since it is a good fit on both the bearing and the seal. ![]() |

just make sure the white one goes on the CV side, it should be touching the CV, not the bearing. |

Next question: How much turning resistance should there be when done? I'm wondering if I put too much grease inside? ![]() |

so long as u just used the grease in the packets supplied ull be right. if turning by finger, they shud no be just easy to spin, unce u pout the hub on etc it shud be fine. |

I didn't use the little grease bags, I bought a tub of wheel bearing grease. So I've prolly got more in there than the little bags hold. Doesn't matter if it has to come apart again anyway.....I just realised I put the wrong shaft in the hub I finished, so now I have to swap them. ![]() |
