Hey,

Now I got the hydrolastics replenished, I need to ask the question - when the time comes, do I have to get them deflated by the professionals (seeing as theres 300psi in there) - before removing the subframes or can I just use a valve tool and empty them myself? I don't really fancy driving back from the shop 30 mins with no suspension.

Second thing anybody got an indicator stalk plastic end for sale - I only have the metal rod with nothing on the end and it's really bugging me.

U can deflate it yourself....

I posted a thread quite recently on ths one. Tip from the doc was to use the back of the valve cap to depress the valve. Just make sure you dont squirt it in your eyes.

Alternatively, if you didnt have the valve caps like Moi, I used a small screwdriver to depress the valve and just washed the fluid away off the drive-way..very easy, took 5 minutes

Just did the same thing, just used my older brother's finger which is long and very point. He didn't mind losing a finger.

or do what i did!,

use a screw driver, but do catch the liquid, the stuff stinks!,

i just put a plastic bag over the valve with the srecdriver insinde,

u get the point!,

I just undone the valve with a vlave remover and caught all the fluid and no problems at all

A Bloody Mini

1970 Mini K, 1380cc, 1.75 HIF SU, 30 70 Cam, 2" Zorts
1969 Mini K, Stock Standard and Orginal. (Slow as Hell)

Is the front subframe(wet) easy to unbolt? Ive gotta take it out so i can mount my frame on my rotisserie

Yes once you remove hydro hoses and shocks..
4 bolts in the towers, 4 in the floor, 2 at the front.
Watch the front valance hasn't been bent under the subby- whack it forward with BFH if so.
If it's still stuck, pry from each side, on top of the towers.


If you are converting it to dry, please don't chuck the hydro bits- some people on here would buy them.
